Original MEP Starter 12V Replacement MEP Starter

The original 24 volt MGB4001 starter is pictured on the left with the 12 volt replacement starter, 2G-0001 shown on right.

The 4A032 Military standard engine was supplied without a starter. There was a starter designed to fit the engine but it was a 24 volt unit and has been obsolete for years. It was sold under the part number MGB4001, NSN 2920-00-882-3401. Many people want to have an electric starter for their engine but a 24-volt system is awkward. Our replacement can be used with convenient 12-volt batteries. It is sold here, under Southern Automotive's part number 2G-0001.

Each starter is supplied with mounting hardware and instructions on how to connect a simple starting system. The replacement starter is a fixed position drive housing. The original drive housing was adjustable for various end uses. We have confirmed the fit on MEP16C 3KW generator. Others applications have not been confirmed yet.

Soon to be released is a complete instillation kit that will include cables, wires and switch.

Since we manufacture this unit, we are able to supply any component for this unit including hardware and sub-assemblies. A minimum order may be required for some items.
